A crime of murder occurred on January 14, 2013 at around 7:20 pm on the Rancho do Povo settlement, approximately 60km from Mossoró in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. 25 year old Francinaldo Francisco de Melo known as “Nelzinho” was killed with a shotgun blast to the chest. According to police, the victim was known to them because someone had already tried to kill him twice.
The first attempt on his life was in the same settlement of Rancho do Povo, second one was in the community of Passagem de Pedras in Mossoró where he took refuge after the first attempt. Third time was a charm. The killer surprised Francisco in front of his residence, giving him no time to flee. According to a police expert, the weapon used was a homemade shotgun.
